About the Program

Launch Micro-Internships

Whitworth Launch Micro-Internships give rising sophomores and juniors the chance to gain short-term, meaningful professional experience through roughly 8-hour-per-week projects over 6–8 weeks. They help you build your résumé, explore careers, grow your confidence, and connect with Whitworth-affiliated mentors — without committing to a full traditional internship.

What you can expect to do

Projects vary across organizations and industries, but you might:

  • Conduct research and analyze data
  • Support communications or marketing projects
  • Draft documents or presentations
  • Assist with program or event planning
  • Explore new initiatives alongside your employer mentor

Projects are structured to give you real responsibility and real outcomes — not busy work.

How else will you benefit?

Real professional experience — early

Micro-internships help you gain practical, résumé-building experience long before most students begin formal internships.

Career exploration without the pressure

Test industries, roles, and skills. Discover what you like — and what you don't — through short, flexible projects.

Valuable mentorship

You'll have two mentors: a supervisor at your host employer and a Whitworth micro-internship advisor. This dual support system means you're never navigating the experience alone.

Paid, flexible, manageable

At about 8 hours/week, micro-internships fit easily alongside classes, athletics, or campus involvement.

Build your networks

Every project involves a Whitworth-connected host employer — alumni, parents, community partners, and supporters — expanding your professional connections early.
